Multimedia
While a good story can be written, it can also be photographed, videotaped or told through audio. When I first joined Pitt Media, I only envisioned myself writing stories, designing yearbook spreads or taking a photo here and there — But here I am with my own podcast and video series.
I've been Multimedia Editor for the past two years, which was a first for our program. My goal as Multimedia Editor is to increase the amount of multimedia production.
Multimedia is one of my greatest passions and I hope to share that with my staff and community.
Podcast
After COVID-19 first stuck the U.S. in March, I was unable to do the amount of coverage that I was used to and since we were lacking in certain areas of multimedia, I decided to spend my entire quarantine, spring and summer break creating my own podcast series called TenMinuteTalks. I am officially on season three of TenMinuteTalks and have recorded weekly and now have over 25 episodes.
Since then, our presence in the audio department has grown drastically and has inspired other Pitt Media staffers to delve into podcasting.
Each semester is a new season of the podcast. By clicking on the image below, you can listen to each season.
23 Questions
Inspired by the Vogue series "73 Questions," I created this series to showcase the staff at PHS. This was my first video series and I learned how to be more conversational in interviews and improved my video editing.
Grub Pub
I created this series my senior year with my co-hosts senior Noemi Hernandez and junior Kaley Mussa.
One day I had a thought about combining my three favorite things: food, student pub and friends. Once I found my co-hosts, we came up with several episode ideas and began recording. After we finished filming our first episode, it felt like it was meant to be and we were hooked.
Since this series started, our social media and Youtube channel has attracted a larger audience.
Multimedia Packages
Each story can be told in a multitude of ways and one of my favorite ways to tell several stories within the same topic is by creating multimedia packages.
When anxiety attacks: how students cope
In this multimedia package, I showcased my story alongside a story written by areporter on staff. In the video that I contributed to the piece, I sat down with several students on what they would say to their mental illness if they could.

Communiy Collaboration
After working alongside culinary teacher Chef Anthony Fischer by taking photographs of his culinary classes and aiding him in advertising his culinary club, he invited me to collaborate with KOAM, which is the local news station for our area.
Because of collaborating with my community, I've been able to meet and work alongside Jesse Irwin. Being able to work alongside KOAM has been an amazing opportunity for me and has helped me in seeing a first-hand perspective on local reporting.
I created this video after working behind the scenes with KOAM reporter Jesse Irwin and videographer Liam Mandelbaum, who were featuring PHS Culinary Arts teacher Chef Anthony Fischer on how to properly and improperly cook a turkey.
Virtually dropping in on
a high school culinary
arts class
Due to COVID-19, KOAM staff members were unable to come into the halls of Pittsburg High School to interview Culinary Arts teacher Chef Anthony Fischer. Because of this, Chef Anthony requested I record the segment for KOAM.

Videography
While some will say that a photo is worth a thousand words, I believe that a video is worth a million. From a young age I've always loved video and film. My sophomore year I decided to create my first video for Pitt Media as a collaboration piece with a staff member. After seeing the finished product, I was hooked. Videography has brought my storytelling skills to a whole new level.
My videos listed below are organized from the beginning of my journey into videography to my most recent work.
