Design
Here at Pitt Media, we strive to tell stories through design as strongly as we do with words. With every yearbook or newspaper spread, logo, graphic, illustration and more, our goal is to make our work stand out and grab our reader's attention.
I began designing my freshmen year when I was in yearbook. While I despised it at first, after several weeks of spending countless hours working on spreads, I soon realized that designing was going to be one of the most helpful tools for me to use in the future.
Yearbook Spreads
With every year comes a new story to be told. I learned to love design after my freshmen year was spent in yearbook. As someone who has always had a passion for creating books, being a part of the program both challenged and excited me.

This was my first spread for the Yearbook my sophomore year before I transferred over to Newspaper halfway into the school year. In this spread I focused mainly on color and keeping things both clean and organized.

I created this yearbook spread my freshmen year alongside a returner where I was able to learn how to work with design. When designing this spread, I focused mainly on placement and coloration.

Logos
A key detail to having a successful podcast is having an eyecatching logo. When I started my podcast series "TenMinuteTalks," I knew that having a logo would be important for presentation. When I first created the show, my logo was simple but when season two came around I thought it was time for some revamping.
While I have the main logo, I've taken the time to design versions of the logo that are inspired by the holiday season.

Thumbnails
One of the most helpful elements that I've found to make a successful video not only lies in the footage or editing, but the thumbnail you design to represent it as well. By using my design skills, I've been able to make my content stand out more.

Illustrations
One of my favorite jobs in journalism is illustrations. I've enjoyed illustrating since I was a child and when I discovered that I could share my love for art through journalism, I was excited. After receiving an honorable mention at regionals in 2019 and making my way to state, I knew how important it was to use my voice by illustrating.
